I reckon events like this should be carried out under 'School Sports' rules.
You're not allowed to bring your own kit, but there's an old shipping container by the start line, which contains what you'll need for the event.
At the gun, everyone runs over to the container to pick (in this instance) their bicycle, with the added frisson of having to decide whether you grab the first one and get going, or waste time trying to find the one decent one in there. |  |
