went wrong, and Morsy ended up putting it out for a throw near the corner flag.
In typical Town fashion we just tried again and it all clicked; I think we ended up shading the first half.
Surprisingly for me, we were playing exactly the same style and formation as last season. Fantastic to see Walton, Burns, Morsy, Mass, Woolfie (motm for me), Chaplin and Davis – veterans of games against Fleetwood, FGR etc. – stepping up and looking at home.
tbh, I’d be quite happy with yesterday’s team being our first choice over the season. But I think the second half showed we’ll need something else, especially in central midfield, where we got passed through too many times.
Could be in terms of formation – maybe we need another body there – probably different players (which of course we have in the wings). Morsy should (and I expect will) continue to start.
Maybe another striker, as I’m not sure how sharp we are with our finishing (although that could be Szmodics).
Hutchinson looked comfortably PL level and Delap was really good, especially when he took a high ball down and swept it past TAA in one movement in the first half. His movement caused problems, just don’t know what his finishing is like. He wears his shorts funny.
Anyway, 8/10 for me. It was LOUD, despite the Liverpool fans not singing until the 60th minute. |  | | |  |

I actually think, with so many premier league teams playing out from the back, we will have a lot of joy and create a lot of chances from the way we press, smother and win the ball back.
We tore teams apart last season that played that way. The ones that didn’t had a bit more joy against us.
So it might be one of those things that we get a lot of joy from as other teams won’t compromise their style for little old Ipswich and winning the ball back there and immediately playing in Delap, Hirst, Burns, Szmodics or Hutchison could be fantastic. |  | | |
