You might want to think back to who had a chart hit that the chant was based upon...

Oh. I wasn't aware it was based on a chart hit, it's the fairly monotone thing we used to chant, I think, when John Wark came back the first time. I was a kid in the West Stand so I might be mis-remembering it. I have a suspicion now that I might know who you mean, but I still can't quite place it.

I first heard it as "Beattie is back ...." when he came into the team again after one of his many injuries.

Johnnie Wark’s was always ‘he’s here, he’s there….’ when he scored.

Is that what it comes from? I'll scrub that off my chant list then, apologies all.

Which was originally the John O'Rourke song.

‘Rock n roll part one’ was still played at ice hockey in the US when I used to go in the 90’s. But wasn’t that just ‘The Glitter Band’, so all good.

Sadly no, Paul Gadd sang 'hey' on the original;

'The NFL allowed a cover version of the song by the Tube Tops 2000 to be played, but in 2012, the NFL instructed teams to "avoid" the song following negative reaction from British media to the New England Patriots' use of the song. In 2014, Billboard reported that the song was slowly falling out of favour due to both the controversies, and teams electing to replace it with newer songs.'

We used it for the John McGreal chant unfortunately.
