Just rewatched the goals again 18:44 - Oct 6 with 1287 viewsFrimleyBlue

Tbh easy for KM to pinpoint the issues to the side.

I prefer these goals to one's where its things that can't be resolved.

Each one is actually lack of effort. Greaves half hearted attempts at intercepting any ball that comes across him
No one helps phillips when he's trying to stop bowen from putting the ball in, there's no one tucking over to stop the invert run. Is that laziness over talent?
The headed goal.. i don't really know what can be done to stop that tbh. If muric doesn't dive for the first then he would save the goal but then he's not to know the first header isn't going to go in.

I dunno. Just watching them back they are really poor goals to conceded but easy to rectify if KM can identity what's caused it.. laziness or talent or concentration?

Greaves has had a few now where he's not really intercepted balls going across him.. think back to Southamptons goal too, maybe a bit of work on that front needed as twice in yesterday's goals he's not really close to getting a foot in the way.

BTW I've called it laziness I guess the better word is complacent perhaps. Don't want it to come across to strong just not sure best description to use..

Prime point with this
Where is Davis going?

If phillips tries to stop bowen coming inside. And bowen goes outside. Davis is then the wrong side of bowen so prone to giving away a pen. Surely Davis tucks in and stops the invert

far more nuanced than that. No way in this world is it a lack of effort or laziness, it's fatigue from having to deal with relentless waves of pressure. Personally I think we're making bad decisions and bad times resulting in us handing over possession and inviting attacks. The defence looks indecisive at times which is largely due to the number of personnel changes. I'm sure we'll improve in this aspect but we don't want to be having too many wallopings for the sake of team morale.

Fatigue probably best way of describing it cheers :)

How can that be addressed or is it just something that will naturally improve with further games.. physical or mental fatigue do you think?

Definitely the team needs more time to play together and get used to each other - that’s just natural - it happened about 3 times where we had 3 defenders go for the same header - got beaten to it by Antonio and left massively exposed. Like McKenna said, he didn’t expect them to play so direct but not quite sure why, if it’s a weakness then exploit it. Our defensive frailties down the wings are also there for the everyone to see and have not changed from last season. Over half the goals must come from crosses from people being allowed space to cross. Not sure why this is not stopped or why we have players that sit there, not close down and give them free rein to put into the middle time and time again. It’s almost as if it’s a tactic and having over confidence in our defending to deal with it to then get a break away. That’s all I can think due to lack of charging down the space before a cross on too many occasions to be coincidence.
