Use Of Substitutes 19:16 - Oct 6 with 677 views | Ace_High1 | Do you think we need to be a little less rigid with how we use our subs this season? Last year in particular we become known for around 60-65 mins replacing the front 4 most weeks and using the fresh legs to over power teams and score late goals. So far this season I feel KM is a little too set in who comes on and when. He seems to be leaving sub quite a bit later than it appears we need. I was there yesterday directly behind ITFC dugout so had a good watch of KM all game - you could see his frustration in that crazy 5 minutes before HT and also the mistake straight after HT. However it was clear yesterday that Burns and Hutchinson were not on form, both needed to come off at HT to try and change the momentum. In quite a few games this year the ball has not been running for Hutchinson but we seem very reluctant to bring him off until the last few minutes. I think we need to be a bit more dynamic. Yesterday second half I would have brought on Chaplin and Hursts for Burns and Hutchinson at HT and used Delap from wide right as an out ball with his pace and power and bit like Antonio does when he pulls on to one of the flanks and runs in from there. May not have changed the result but some fresh legs and mixing up thee approach might help us. Not sure what Clarke offers at the moment, would like to see Broadhead in LW next game, with Szmodics in CAM and Hutchinson wide right.
Use Of Substitutes on 20:40 - Oct 6 with 570 views | WicklowBlue | I thought Clarke was great in the second half last week, not sure what happened but we couldn't get him on the ball in space yesterday. Similarly on the right when we got the ball to Burns/Ogbene I wanted to see them run at the defender and try to make something happen but they kept checking back. That 3rd goal shortly after half time was a killer, it then becomes a no win scenario do you leave the players on the pitch to figure things out or do you hook them potentially damaging confidence further. Plus we keep talking about "gel" time... Phillips and Morsy were overrun yesterday and the there was a large gap between the front 4 and the 2 CMs. Hopefully a lesson learned and the next 2 weeks in Playford road will address this.
