Guardian interview with George Burley on 09:05 - Nov 21 with 1148 views | heavyweight | I may have made this up - but didn't he insist that Sheepshanks pay him a bonus for getting us into Europe when we were relegated but qualified due to "fair play" ?
Guardian interview with George Burley on 09:42 - Nov 21 with 1008 views | Churchman | As a manager, GB was such a good for the football club, right from the off. He fully deserved the accolades he got in 2001 and I got such a lot of pleasure watching his team(s) grow to that point. I know it unravelled, but nothing can take away the six seasons before that.
Guardian interview with George Burley on 10:08 - Nov 21 with 967 views | HighgateBlue | The man is a hero. Suddenly looking a lot older, sadly. I had the good fortune to meet him once when he was Town boss and he was good humoured and down to earth. Absolute Town legend twice over. Fifth in the Premier League! It may now be a while ago, but our long period in the wilderness could have been yet longer if it weren't for him. The stadium that we were bemoaning becoming tired may still have been stuck in the mid 20th century, and we may well never have attracted the investment that we now have. Impossible to know, I appreciate. A great interview with a great man, and such a wonderful, level, philosophical attitude to everything. I hope he is around to see where this wonderful journey takes the Club. If we don't manage to stay up this season (or next) he will of course be thoroughly disappointed for the Club, but he will know with a wry smile how very difficult it is to keep success going in the top division.
