Just book an off peak return? If you can't do that online the station will do it.

The trains are running, but the train companies are saying that they are sold out. This only means that they have stopped making reservations, not that you cannot catch them.
Basically it means that you cannot buy an advance fare, only a walk up ticket.
The reason they are doing this is because there are engineering works on the east coast main line this Sat., so no trains out of Kings Cross. This will mean that services out of St Pancras will likely be v busy.
