First Games 20:36 - Dec 16 with 1787 viewsGazelle

There’s been several message recently from fans saying when they saw their first match at Portman Road. My Dad took me on November 11th 1950 to see us lose 2-3 against Bristol Rovers, can anyone beat that ?

Nice one! Do you remember much about the game? I know the score of the first game I ever saw but nothing of the match itself. We beat Cardiff 4-2

My first match was April 1950, I think it was the Suffolk Senior Cup Final but details are somewhat blurred. All I can remember is sitting in the chicken run.
I know That I saw QPR in the next season but the first match I remember in any detail is October 1953 beating Coventry with his one and only hat trick from the great John Elsworthy.

I’d always thought my first game was a home match against Nottingham Forest in 1966/67 season but just checked on Pride of Anglia and they weren’t even in the same division. Can’t think who it was despite looking at the fixtures for that period
Was in the early part of the season though and vividly remember being along the front wall of the North Stand right behind the goal with my mate Colin. Whoever the opposition was, some of their fans (including, as I recall, some Teddy Boys), got there early and ‘took’ the North Stand until some of our lot turned up and turfed them out down to the Churchman End.
Think Ken Hancock played, and Ray Crawford and Bill Baxter. Was mesmerised by Frank Brogan and Danny Hegan(still my favourite player to this day)
Remember running on the pitch at the end of one match, with a load of others, and seeing myself on Match of the Week next day, very proud moment.
A few weeks later, early January, turned up for the home game against the Scum only to find out it was cancelled because of a frozen pitch so hopped on the train to Colchester to see the play (lose) to Peterborough in the FA Cup

Mine was the John Wark testimonial Vs Arsenal, 1990-something.

Didn't go again until around the time Royle took over, a 4-1 win v Millwall in Jan 2003.

The next one was the famous 3:2 comeback Vs Shef Utd a few weeks later.

At that point decided I quite liked this and got myself a season ticket for 03/04.

My first was actually at Filbert Street, Leicester. Mid 60's.
We lived in the midlands then.
We scored in the first half and I remember being annoyed when they equalised in the 2nd.
