Opposition saltiness 10:44 - Jan 6 with 788 viewsLinners

As has been discussed to death on here, not all elements of the PL experience are enjoyable.

However, the saltiness of opposition coaches, players and fans when they don't beat us (and obviously expected to) is an absolute delight.

Nice to add Silva to that list yesterday, although obviously the win would've been a lot sweeter. My favourite so far though was the reaction of the Spurs fans. I must have watched a dozen vlogs and watchalongs on YouTube. Lovely stuff.

That's a factor of the weight of expectation on coaches and fans in the Premier League. It's a constant battle to remain at the top of the pile or avoid being crushed lower down, in the full glare of media scrutiny, on a global level. Blame falls so easily and has to be deflected, with one's own team having to be defended against the constant barrage from outside. Every slip-up dissected in minutest detail, every rumour magnified.

We haven't experienced that yet, still riding high on the delighted surprise at finding ourselves suddenly at the top level. Written off for relegation by most pundits, there is no pressure from that direction, either, just praise when we "make a go of it".

Good Lord! Whatever is it?
