Not really. In over 50 years I’ve never, ever watched or listened to a match involving them before, unless we’re playing them. I couldn’t tell you the names of more than 2 of thier players.

But I was interested to watch Brighton play and look at the difference between them and a team in the league we left a few months ago. I ended up amazed at the gulf in class, at the repeated sloppiness of the NUFC passing and the spread and control of Brighton.

End result? I was proud to think that my team are pretty much holding their own against teams like Brighton week in and week out. And I realised that I don’t think they have one player who would get into our team now.

What a turn around in 3 years!

Oh I don’t know. I always have a good laugh when they get humped. Always have. As a yoof if we were staying at my grandmothers in Yarmouth my dad and I would go to the odd Norwich game for a giggle and more importantly get away from the ghastly little house she lived in.

Then in later years I’d go to the odd Norwich game in London with a budgie supporting friend and he’d accompany me to ITFC games if circumstance allowed. Basically, it was all about the drink ups before and after.

There was something amusing about say sitting in the away stand at Charlton and seeing the sadness of the bong-eyed mob as goals went in while one is overjoyed inside at their misfortune but can’t show it. Sort of reverse of watching ITFC.
