Dumb Royal Mail service question 12:37 - Jan 22 with 748 viewsNthQldITFC

If you want to send something from an individual to a business and you (the individual) want to access tracking details and see when it's delivered, what service do you use?

If you choose Royal Mail 'Tracked 48' it asks for recipient's email and phone number (which I don't necessarily have, or is irrelevant), but I want the tracking details myself as the sender - can I just put the senders details in as the recipient?

That doesn't sound right.

Whenever I've had tracking on Royal Mail, I've used the reference on the receipt and entered it into the following.

I send parcels every day. If I don't have the required information (although you could maybe google it) I put my email and phone number. The reason it's asked for is that it generates a 'we have a parcel for you' email to the recipient and they can track it too which, of course, is useful for them in case of non-delivery. Personally, though, I try to send signed for rather than tracked because sometimes the parcel doesn't get scanned properly.

I thought that was an option, not compulsory. Ie if you have it great, but if you don't that's also great.

I used track 48 on Monday for sending a parcel but didn't have to supply that info as I didn't have it

Ah yes, my mistake, I thought for some reason the recipient details were required by the online system. I can just skip them and track using the reference on the receipt as DJR says.

Been a long few weeks!

Thanks all.
