Ok following on from my fear of flying thread, made it to Bucharest, currently sat in the big spa (which is heaving!!!)

Tomorrow we have an entirely free day of exploring before a 9pm flight home so looking for any recommendations off the beaten track if anyone has been here, anything worth seeing in particular?

My mrs thinks she’s an influencer so wants to go to the umbrella road for some photos, other than that I haven’t got a clue what’s worth doing really, wanted to keep it to “walk the streets and see what we see”

Visited last year at around this time. Worth visiting are, University Square (Piața Universității) it’s quite picturesque, buildings wise. The small Old Town (Lipscani Area) is cool, and worth a beer, (or eight!). The Stavropoleos Monastery is very much worth a look. Caru’ cu Bere is a famous 19th-century beer hall with beautiful interior architecture. The CEC Palace is worth a look for its impressive glass dome. And of course the former Communist Party headquarters at Revolution Square is a must see - fountains not working when I was there, sadly.

All the above are no more than 10-15 mins walk from each other, so easily managed within an hour - unless you enjoy the Old Town bars too much!

Have fun.

The Palace of the Parliament is definitely worth a visit - the tour guides are knowledgeable and engaging.
