Going back a bit now, but Eric Gates walked out on the club in the mid/late seventies (although not to force a transfer but to get more game time). He went back to Carlisle and got a job picking potatoes, so the story went. A few days later he was back, and in the team. SBR was a football romantic in many ways but he had a fair old pragmatic streak as well. |

Are you currently in a workplace pension? If so, and if your primary goal is simply to get all your different pension pots into one place, you will probably be able to transfer your historic pension pots into your current scheme (unless your historic pots are defined benefit). Contact your current scheme and they can talk you through it. |

I’d be amazed if there wasn’t a date (and/or other conditions) attached to each release clause. Otherwise you’d have a potentially ridiculous situation that we get promoted again and the release clause is still in place. What that date is, though, is anyone’s guess. |

You're applying logic to the running of Sheffield Wednesday. |

But that’s the odd thing - he isn’t. Claus Norgaard, who was Frank’s assistant at Brentford and before that at Brondby and at the Danish FA, didn’t follow him to Spurs and is still at Brentford. Strange that he would stay there to be assistant to someone else. [Post edited 15 Jun 8:14]

May well do the whole lot together. Any sponsor is likely to want their launch announcement to be accompanied by shirts with the logo on. |

I notice that Danny Rohl hasn’t ruled himself out of the running for the Ipswich job. He’s obviously coming here then. |

Maximum squad size might be an issue with that group. We’re limited to 25 and probably only Williamson of that group counts as an U21. Some of the newcomers could be young premier league loanees but not all of them. |

I guess it’s just about possible that Chelsea want us to waive a minor part of the release clause (eg the date of the transfer) and we’ve said we’ll do it if we get Guiu on loan in return. But “they’re just making stuff up” is a more likely option. |

But what’s his pathway back? If he stands to be an MP (general election or by election) he’s clearly not doing it just to be a backbencher. So will Labour HQ approve him as a candidate? |

Any sell on would be based on profit so that couldn’t happen. Buy he’d be cheaper for them than anyone else if we sell him at a profit. |

If it was just down to FFP (and if we had any say in the matter) we might prefer to leave it til after 30 June. FFP is done on a rolling three year basis so if we’re ok without the Delap sale money for the period July 22 to June 25 then putting into the 25/26 season may help us three years down the line particularly as the limits are much lower for seasons in the Championship. The club should know at this stage how much headroom we’ve got, but I can’t imagine the buying club will entertain a delay unless it suits their own situation. |

I would imagine all our summer signings have a release clause, in the same way they'll have wage deduction clauses. [Post edited 21 May 21:24]

Jimmy Dunne is a good shout if Axel goes. Strong and athletic full back / centre back. I’ve seen him at QPR a few times this season and he’s way too good for them. He’s out of contract as well. Sheff Utd were in for him in January so presumably they’ll be in the mix in the summer, although if they go up they may set their sights a little higher. |

I would say Wrexham v Leicester is guaranteed to be the opening game. You can write the narrative now …. “Ten years ago Leicester were about to start the season that would see them crowned Premier League champions while Wrexham were playing The Dog & Duck etc etc”. |

I think this scheme can sit alongside the Rooney Rule and make it more meaningful. Rooney says you have to have one non-white applicant on the shortlist. But, if people of colour are not even getting the opportunity to start their coaching career, that Rooney Rule candidate is likely to get rejected because of lack of experience. If this scheme removes such barriers then I’m all for it. |
