But we also have to remember that these players also take a year or so to settle and get up to speed with PL football, as a lot of Championship recruits also do/have done.
Ultimately, unless you have a squad of PL hardened players, which can only happen in time - then recruitment is very difficult because anyone within your range are going to be both an 8 figure signing so will need to play, but also not PL experienced and in most cases will take time to get up to speed.
It really is threading the eye of a needle - a few players have done it like Liam Delap here, but even when you look at Adam Wharton and Morgan Rogers who have also settled like snow in the PL they have gone into highly functioning PL teams surrounded by massive experience, and been able to drop in and out of the team when needed. |
I have noticed you have said similar on Blue Monday Joe and you certainly have a point that cannot be disputed. However, I do hope our recruitment will have a wider net over the next few seasons. One or two more powerful and athletic midfielders from abroad who can find their feet in the Championship with some greater forward drive (though I haven't conceded defeat just yet) along with a 10 and a 9 possibly would be a start. | |

For the clubs you mention… the ‘fancy’ signings from abroad are generally matched with players with greater Prem experience to allow their transitions in to the team.
Brighton over the years have no less than signed the likes of Welbeck, Lallana and Milner. Brentford with Ben Mee, Palace keeping Joel Ward around and then bringing Nathaniel Clyne back to the club.
Think a lot of that goes unnoticed when you see them signing £20m+ players from La Liga etc. |  |
