Championship goals 20:26 - Mar 18 with 1446 views | klg199 | I watched all 92 league goals again from last season on YT earlier. We were rather good. Certainly gives you a footballing lift and bings back some great memories. Also reinforces once more the vast difference between Championship and Premier League.

The level of player turnover can’t have helped, but primarily I think it’s more to do with the quality of opponent. We’re largely on the back foot, less possession, much less space in attacking areas and the recovery speed in the premier league is a joke. If we break a press in previous seasons we’re away, here they’re back in seconds. Also think confidence might be a factor. When you’re winning a lot it breeds that of course, now you could understand if a few of our players are doubting their ability to compete in the top tier. I think we’ll see those patterns return from August.

In the Championship if Omari shimmied past a couple of players he could take a free shot at goal from around the edge of the box. If he manages to do it in the Prem the best he can often do is pass sideways to someone else. Confidence is a massive factor imo, especially right now. You could see it on Saturday that when we did get into decent positions we lacked the necessary purpose to create a proper opening. Don't think he played that well generally but Enciso was constantly looking for Davis to run into the channel but the latter looked reluctant and often took the ball in front of a defender then passed backwards. Last season he'd have gone for the one-two and whipped the ball into the box or cut it back.

I understand that. Just we've looked a pale shadow. Ironically, the odd time we've shown anything like last years movement, is when we've played with Burns and Chaplin. Think changing nearly the whole team set us back square one.
