Now that the PIF / Geordie Nation have secured the league cup, and ended their 55 years of hurt, the (look away now anti-woke warriors) Guardian have looked across the continent for other ‘big’ clubs with significant dust gathering in the cabinet.

Forget that lot up the road. If we won it, we would consider it a major trophy.


I genuinely wouldn't.

I suppose that the thing is that for you to have major trophies, you have to have minor trophies, and whilst the League Cup is worth more than the Pizza Cup, Leyland Daf and Full Members' only one of those is still going, so the poor old Milk/Rumbelows/Carrotbow Cup has to muck in with those as something for the tiddlers to get excited about.
