As disappointing as this season is now turning out 20:37 - Mar 20 with 907 views | Joey_Joe_Joe_Junior | I think it is worth remembering during the current painful games that going up last year was still so crucial for the club. Even if we are having to take our licks in 2025. It is fairly obvious KM would have gone to Brighton (or elsewhere) if we lost in the playoffs. There was simply no guarantee we would have had anything like that kind of season in the championship this time round with a new Manager at the helm. We had such momentum from L1 and never really looked back outside of the winter blip. We may we have challenged again this year but who knows. The stadium enhancements, the academy moving to Cat 1, the players brought in and parachute payments coming down are all so huge. I have been concerned with areas of the recruitment at times but overall we should have an excellent championship squad with young players full of potential. While some from the league 1 group will no doubt play a part, there should probably be some caution about being too nostalgic from those seasons, as the club keeps moving forwards. Not to single him out but just as an example seen a few mentions of Harness after 2 good games for Derby. Sounded like he had been really struggling before and a parachute club should IMO be fielding better quality moving forwards. Huge summer coming up with no doubt a few notable departures but hopefully some very key players coming in the door as well.

We had our fingers burnt with the Pioneer stand, so I’m a bit skeptical of the value of facility upgrades. The Championship is also full of teams with nice facilities and there are few clubs in the PL with crappy little grounds. Take from that what you will.

From an experience level there are improvements and the long term only sunk costs would have been in the odd bar or whatever in the Cobbold. The pressure will be on giving the recent player investment but the club should be in very good shape if we can return within 2 years. I am sure will do it a little differently next time if there is an opportunity. Can't take anything for granted but I have watched the odd champ game this year and very poor. Sheffield United conceded over 100 goals last year. Fair chance there are no parachute clubs in champ next year either.

You’re not wrong about the Championship. Beyond the clubs with parachute payments there’s very little in that league. I see quite a bit and the gap to the PL clubs just seems to be growing. I can see Birmingham and someone like Wrexham doing well when then they come up.

Does not seem that much difference from 4th - 14th! I am hoping for my own sanity Wrexham do not come up. They are annoying and have a tone of coverage already over here even in L1
