The Specials live at Cov Cathedral 21:08 - Apr 19 with 1024 viewsvapour_trail

I know the reformed band wasn’t for everyone. I caught them in about 2010 in London and it was so so good.

Anyway 2019 performance on sky arts.

Trailing vapour since 1999.

Not into reunions but if I was to see them retrospectively, it would have been in Coventry. Impossible to now, of course…

That said, not going to lie, more than a tear was shed at the 2Tone museum prior to our FA Cup meeting a couple of months ago ⬛️⬜️⬛️⬜️

Nice one, I was wondering what to watch.

Yeah I always thought that, but have seen some good ones. Velvets in the 90s, pixies in the 00s, orbital last year.

Specials were really fun, but no Dammers. As you say, couldn’t happen now.

When working in a restaurant I was asked if fish was one of the specials? I said no, he is in Marillion :o)

I saw Terry Hall at Reading Uni, probably 1984 or 85 so assume it was Fun Boy Three then. I don't remember anything about the songs played but it was the most violent gig I've ever been to. A mix of skinheads, national front, mods, punks, squaddies, rastas, students and people probably expecting Bananarama to appear.

Would loved to have seen The Specials, originals or reformed. I probably listen to them more now than I did back then.

Surely everyone wanted to see bananarama appear!

True. Could have turned the night into a massive love-in.

Saw them at V in 2009. Whilst they were great, it wasn’t ideal, pockets of people of a certain age dancing their tits off whilst the majority remained sitting down waiting for Lily Allen.

All you punks and all you teds
National Front and natty dreads
Mods, rockers, hippies and skinheads
Keep on fighting 'til you're dead

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

I saw them at the Students Union at Coventry Uni (the Planet) in 98 or 99. It felt really something to see them play in their hometown.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

I saw the Specials at the old Hammersmith Palais in 1980. They were excellent, but they did attract an awful skinhead following, who drenched the lead singer of support band The Swinging Cats in spittle. The guy did bravely finish the set, though.
