Ha. The mind boggles at how the press are spinning this as some major success. Even the non-rabid, non-right wing press are at it. The Guardian today leads with “Trump says UK is protected from tariffs ‘because I like them’ as trade deal is signed off’”.
Er, pardon? He’s imposed 10% tariff on cars, for which the USA is our largest market, 25% on steel (3rd largest market for ‘materials’ as a whole), 10% tariffs on everything else still, except for aerospace which has been lifted completely.
It’s undeniable that our exporters have a harder time selling to the USA under Trump (he introduced the higher steel tariffs in his first term as well as expanding tariffs in general this term), [Post edited 17 Jun 10:21]
