The idea that we should just give up on players who might be interested in moving on. For example, two comments under today's Axel story:

"Obviously we’ll be second choice for him now
Look elsewhere I say."

"he's clearly looking at better options, let him go we don't need players who don't want to be here, see ya"

This is ridiculously naïve right? Most players are going to look at options elsewhere given the opporunity.

Same goes for Kieran too, as I've seen some say the same absurd thing about him.

At the end of the day this is their careers, most players are not going to be long term ITFC fans like you or I.

Rant over, thanks.

Agreed. I had the same conversation with somebody yesterday about Klug.
It's a job, people have to work. Would these people suggest a colleague is kicked out of their workplace because a recruiter tries to tap them up for elsewhere?
Sport and football in particular shouldn't really be considered different to any other employment when it comes to hard cash and career prospects.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

I agree. There has also been speculation that Nigel Havers might leave Depden Green FC., with Ousden Wanderers the possible destination. Nige has the right to explore alternatives.

Its very naïve to think footballers are all at their clubs for the love of it all. That's not to say none of them care beyond the pay packet but if you're 27 years old and out of contract you would be an idiot to not explore what else might be out there. It doesn't mean they're any less committed if they do sign on the dotted line and get their heads back in to pre season.

And it's not just about a money grab either, although I would understand that given their short careers. But there's length of contract, release clauses, location, family situation all coming into play for these guys.

What some fans don’t seem to understand is that a few players already here probably didn’t want to come here - I’ll be surprised if Sam Morsy or Leif Davis were truly excited about coming to Ipswich in L1. But they did, and the rest is history.

Players look for the best deal and best opportunities just like the ordinary person on the street. They owe it to themselves to have the best career that’s offered to them.
