Natural progression of the team and club, would eventually see him IMO with less and less game time - possibly ending in zero minutes due to being 34/35 and time does catch up with you. If he can get better money for a 2/3 year deal abroad then we all wish him the best as ultimately he has a family to support - in a relatively short career

Just a shame we couldn’t give him the goodbye he deserves

The club have said something along the lines that we are looking to build a team good enough for the Premier . Now we all know Sam has been a great servant while he has been with us but same as Massimo he is just a little short of what is needed in that league so if we are forced to move on from him this season its maybe not the ideal time but its good in the long run i suppose . If Sam decides to leave for a decent pay rise at this time in his career its very understandable and he will go with out best wishes and thanks i'm sure .

Testimonials don't seem to be a thing anymore do they.

I guess it's because players make a decent wage now. Testimonials hark back to the days when players didn't earn 10/20k a week upwards so the point of a testimonial was to raise a few quid for them at the end of their careers.
