If Southampton value Dibbing 09:30 - Aug 5 with 1328 viewsCheltenham_Blue

At £45m. Do we really only value Omari at £40m or was that valuation just hearsay?
I’d be gutted if Southampton held out for £45m and we accepted an offer lower than that.

Dibling is further forward than Omari was at the same age. 2½ years between the two. £40m would be great money for Omari imo, much as I'd prefer he stay and help us win the league.

I doubt they'll get £45m for Dibling, can't see anyone paying that. £40m for Omari seems a good deal for us to be honest, I'd love him to stay and on balance would rather he stayed than us having an extra £40m to spend, but if he went for that I'd feel like we got the maximum possible for him right now.

That also might be a valuation designed to put suitors off.

Also, they've come down a fair way from the £100m they claimed to be holding out for at one point.

Think that was to put people off in January wasn’t it?
Pretty much uniformly accepted he wasn’t worth that.

Oh yeah, I don't think anyone ever thought it was a serious valuation, which is why it was daft to put it out there really when they'll likely sell him for a third of that a few months later.

I guess they feel they don't need to sell. I'd be very surprised if anyone pays £45m for him, certainly not as an initial few anyway.

You could argue Dibling had a bigger impact in the PL last season than Omar did. Dibling is also 2 years younger, thus ahead of Omari at the same age.

Southampton are correctly saying, if you want him pay over the odds for him (apparently they dont financially need to sell). It's a win, win for them especially if Dibling is more than happy to keep playing for them.

I still think the max would be £45m for him, but with lots of add ons

You could argue he did, but hype aside few of the stats really bear out that he had a bigger impact than Omari.

£40m seems like a good deal for Omari on the face of it and it probably is... but I think i'd rather have 1 Omari than for instance Philogene and J.Clarke at this juncture.
