£30 million in profit from 3 players 20:19 - Aug 14 with 832 viewsAxeldalai_lama

Is that right? The club have got to be happy with that as the start of the model to buy in and build up and sell on.
Plus even without it being pure profit that puts £75 million back into the balance sheets, well over half the prem money, from 3 players.

Simplistic obviously, and it's not all about the money, but it kind of is.

It's the model we are going to use, I'm very pragmatic and think it's decent business. We're going to have to accept losing our best players.

In real life it’s £6m on Broadhead initially, with potentially £2.5m on top, assuming Everton don’t have a sell on. Omari is £14m and Delap about £9m I think assuming we paid some add ons. So yeah, somewhere in the region of £30m profit, more for PSR purposes as we would’ve amortised some of the transfer fees already.

Not to be a pedant but it’s doesn’t bolster the balance sheet by £75m.

With parachute payments and these sales, surely it won't just be Matusiwa for a permanent fee + loans by September?!

Got to be a big deal or two done for incomings, you'd think!

My boss is going to be pleased when this window is over as well.

That wasn't going to happen but I'm guessing our finances are significantly stronger than 3 years ago. We still have scope to sign a 20 million pound player.

We’re almost certainly in a position to spend big if we can identify the right player and attract them, we were perfectly willing to on Hackney. I would wager we’re in a very healthy financial position.

I’d guess we’ll have 2 ‘big tickets’ to come in before the end of the window, 1 a replacement for Omari and the other a CM.

Selling players for a profit is the (comparatively) easy part. Replacing them with players of equal or better quality is the next challenge and time will tell. Brentford and Brighton make it look easy but many have tried to emulate and failed.

I have a feeling we may have to wait until January for the biggest ticket, whoever it will end up being.

Somehow the nature of departure for Broady and Hutchinson leaves a bad taste. I know football is a business, first, second and third now, but the lack of respect, and pure mercenary outlook by some players (not just at this club) makes the game far less attractive to me as a die hard fan. I think know football as a sport is dead. A true professional and legend of Ioswich and England, Terry Butcher says it how the club should have dealt with Hutchindon, at least Broadhead only chucked hus toys out if the pram for a meaningless cup match, and he he'd by and large been sidelined for two season by the manager in my view. You watch him play now at Wrexham!

Good point, but I guess we have the £75 million to factor into our overall financial fortunes in the next few years. Not just plonked into the bank balance tomorrow.

Feels like Bournemouth and Brentford could come unstuck this season. Leaving the way for some or all of the promoted clubs having a better shot of staying up.
