I've been asked to supply a redacted bank statement signed by a legal representative of our bank and wonder if this is standard French practice or just this particular client?
A Google search hasn't really assisted..

I’ve been asked for similar before (unredacted but signed). I just sent a bank statement.
A lot of quite old fashioned practices from French companies I’ve found. They seem to like the idea of initialling every page of a document (once I had to travel to do it in person for a >100 page doc) or adding your company stamp after a signature (a bit of WordArt did the job there).
Equally I’ve often been told what’s needed, provided something different and it’s been accepted with a Gallic shrug and a hint of insouciance! |  | | |

Company we've dealt with for years have been bought out by this French company and we're not really used to this level of supplier requirements. We're learning now though.. | |

Not sure if it helps, but I was required to produce a bank statement in connection with my son's application for a Spanish study visa.
I printed out a colour copy of the statement and went to my building society who stamped each page of the statement. [Post edited 22 Aug 12:03]
