Are we sleeping on Brownhill? 07:17 - Aug 24 with 1266 viewsIP9

I’m sure it may have been said before - and we never know what goes on behind closed doors -but there’s a player on the market who’s a leader, scores goals, plays in the centre of the park with and incredible amount of grit who is seemingly available… Wouldn’t we all agree it’s exactly who we need? Having Taylor start championship games is a recipe for disaster, and we’ve lost the CM battle in each game so far

Brownhill would be PERFECT for us!

Brownhill, much like whoever else we are chasing will only move in this final week of the window. Players of a certain quality like him and Hackney are holding out for the best possible moves and personal terms.

Not sure we lost a midfield battle yesterday. we didn't create much from the centre, but Preston had less than 30% of the play and their only shot on target was from the penalty spot. Our problem once again was linking our midfield to the attack. Taylor and Szmodics aren't the answer

As a free agent Brownhill can sign after the final week of the transfer window

If a team has a space in their 25. Not sure many sides will want to leave a hole in their roster.

I’m not sure sleeping is the answer. All clubs will know his status and by not taking a deal early in Aug he’s demonstrated it’s only about money not early season football. If we have decided he’s the right character with the right attributes and is serious about a move then you’d expect we’ve been at the table. I’m not sure he ticks those boxes for ITFC at this stage.

I might be wrong and happy to be proven so!

I don't think we've lost the the CM battle in ANY game so far, never mind each of them.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

He had the chance to stay at Burnley with a much improved contract, a PL contract. But that still wasnt high enough for him and his agent. Burnley basically told him they weren't going to be held to ransom.
Brownhill thought PL clubs would come running to snap him up, they haven't yet. What he forgets is he's had 3 seasons in the Prem during his career, and he never exactly set it on fire during that time. So no prem team is hardly going to offer him a £10m signing on fee (well thats the rumour).

Which means 1of 4 things need to happen 1, a Prem team gets desperate in the final days of the window. 2, He needs to dramatically reduce his signing on demands, to entice a Prem to change its mind. 3, just accept a contract from any club ie Town or 4, have lots of spare time to watch daytime TV.

Well it beats a dunghill I guess, but happy to report I still have a home incorporating beds and a sofa.

Well yes he would certainly improve us. I know much is made of his demands but looking at our squad right now, I would much rather have spent 11.5m on Brownhill than McAteer.

I'm still struggling to get my head around that fee, seems at least double what it should have been.

People also seem to ignore that Brownhill predominantly played as a 10 last season.
