Attack! Attack! It ain't pretty but we need goals. 17:21 - Aug 24 with 368 viewsBeachBlue

This right here is what I keep saying. The opposition has a corner, Palmer catches it, find space hit the ball long, let, Clarke, Philogene, Hirst, Szmodics...anyone! Get after it and make the opposition run back to their goal as opposed to the casual jog as we pass around our back four.
Get a throw-in in the opposition half? Throw it into the open area behind their defence, you can't be offside from a throw in!
Yeah it's not pretty football, but it's effective and right now we need goals!

Trusting the system does have its benefits and worked for us over the long haul but where i agree with you is ... defending a corner midway through 7 minutes of injury time snd we haul everyone back to defend it..... I feel in that situation we should at least give them the problem of what to do with 2 or 3 stretched out on the half way line.

The lack of urgency and even I daresay, apathy, from the team so far this season is shocking.

I mean, its the 85th or even 90th minute, we are 1-0 down, the entire team should be flooding forward to swarm the Preston box. Rather snatch a late goal and salvage a point (or maybe even three). If the opposition breaks (and its PNE, not Arsenal or Liverpool) and scores another it doesn't make much of a difference anyway. Just -1 more GD.

So why persist with the sideways and backwards tippy tappy in our own half? We weren't like this in 23/24. Overcoaching, a can't be bothered attitude, or has the entire team suffered some kind of PTSD after a season in the PL?
