Chances on Saturday 12:31 - Aug 25 with 462 views

I have just watched the match back and these are what each side created. The first list are shots and the second are chances that didn't result in shots. What do we learn from that? Clarke was more involved in everything positive we did than I appreciated before I watched it. Matusiwa looked more impressive. We created more than I remembered. I feel like we are not far away from clicking but we need to start winning on Saturday and win several more soon after.

Philogene 1 min speculative shot from distance high and wide
Davis 8 min under pressure gets an off target shot away
PRESTON 11 min penalty slotted home
Johnson 21 min shot from 25 yards just wide
Clarke 23 min shot from an angle comfortable save for keeper after a long pass from O'Shea; defender there to clear the rebound
Hirst 40 min lovely ball played in from Clarke to Hirst unmarked at the far post who can only put the ball past the post
53 min Clarke free kick is into the wall and Johnson hits the rebound goalward but it is deflected wide for a corner
60 min loose ball on edge of the area falls to Johnson who shoots over
61 min Clarke chance blocked out for a corner after Taylor and Hirst moved the ball on to him in the box
69 min Szmodics shoots high and wide from 25 yards
71 min McAteer shoots high after Matusiwa plays in Szmodics but an excellent challenge by the defender prevents him getting the ball
72 min PRESTON Small runs into the area from the right touchline and hits a tame shot wide of the post
90+4 min Taylor shoots straight at the keeper from 20 yards after a free kick is cleared

On 13 min Johnson puts Clarke away but he is offside and would have been in behind had he not been.
15 min Davis plays the ball in towards Hirst at the near post but it is well defended ahead of him after a lovely cross-field pass from O'Shea.
19 min Johnson crosses in to Davis at the back post but his header down is to a defender.
23 min (after Clarke's shot), he gets the ball more centrally and looks to have confidence but can't quite play Philogene in as the defender intercepts his pass.
26 min Free kick awarded for foul on Philogene after he had nipped in to win the ball and run at the defence - Davis and then Szmodics crosses defended well leading to a corner. Davis fails to beat the first man.
PRESTON 33 min O'Shea caught in possession but manages to just get a foot in and Palmer just gets to the ball ahead of the Preston striker to clear
35 min Szmodics cross is too deep and inaccurate for Clarke to be close to; Matusiwa then gives the ball away on the touchline and Greaves covers well to intercept their final pass
38 min twice in behind wide inside their area but Preston with bodies back are able to comfortably clear.
39 min Philogene cross far too close to the keeper who claims comfortably
PRESTON 40 min Osmajic goes down with Johnson in the same postcode and earns a free kick out wide and a booking for Johnson. Replay shows Osmajic clearly clipping his own leg as he throws himself to ground about 10 yards away from Johnson! Cross to back post leads to a corner. Good cross in that O'Shea heads behind for another corner but OFFSIDE (or something) awarded.
45+1 min Szmodics crosses in low towards Hirst and Clarke but neither can quite reach it before the keeper gets there after ref plays advantage and later books their player for a foul on Philogene
47 min long ball from Palmer flicked on and Philogene nearly controls in front of goal but can't collect as two Preston defenders deal with it between them
PRESTON 48 min long throw into box comfortably cleared by Greaves to Szmodics who sets Clarke away ...
48 min Philogene OFFSIDE Clarke plays in Philogene who puts the ball wide anyway (poor from Philogene)
49 min Hirst and Davis in behind wide in the area but defenders are back and nothing comes of it
52 min Free kick on edge of area after Philogene and Matusiwa link up and the former is fouled
54 min Philogene corner to far post knocked down by O'Shea but offside against Taylor coming back towards the ball
55 min quick passing from back to front ends with Davis' cross blocked for a goal kick after rebounding off him
56 min Davis runs at their defence but is crowded out by 3 defenders
61 min Philogene runs with the ball into the area but is crowded out and Greaves then runs with the ball but loses it leaving Matusiwa to make a challenge to prevent them breaking from which the ball ends with a Clarke chance
62 min CORNER Taylor and Small wrestle leading to Taylor shoving Small who makes contact with their keeper who throws himself to the ground as if shot! Davis' corner defended effectively at the near post
63 min Davis cross from the right comfortably cleared
64 min patient passing around the left side attacking the edge of the Preston box eventually leads to an overhit ball right going out
65 min Philogene offside from a switch of play from Matusiwa
68 min CORNER from right by Davis on top of the keeper who drops the ball under very little pressure and it is cleared by a defender
76 min Free kick 30 yards out. Young's cross met by a defender for a corner
78 min Young's corner is flapped at by the keeper but the ball goes clear as Greaves cannot meet it while claiming to have been fouled
82 min PRESTON Osmajic gets in behind wide and looks to earn a corner but is adjudged to have touched the ball last and is then booked
83 min Cajuste attempts a ball over the top for Chaplin that is cleared and Young plays a ball through for McAteer who can't reach it and Small throws himself to the ground claiming an elbow to the face or something! Both players receive a yellow.
85 min Davis plays Greaves in behind wide in the area but he can't control with the defender there and it is out for a goal kick
86 min Osmajic who has just been booked flattens Davis with no real intent for the ball and then rolls around holding his head
90 min Davis cross easily cleared for a CORNER. Young's corner whipped in on the edge of the 6 yard box but comfortably cleared.
90+1 min ball over the top for Chaplin OFFSIDE
90+1 min PRESTON long clearance off O'Shea for a CORNER. Hit at the first man and comfortably cleared for a throw in. Booking for time wasting and the long throw into the box is cleared by the first man and a free kick awarded for good measure.
90+4 min Free kick wide right by Young won at the back post by Greaves before being cleared eventually to Taylor for a shot
90+6 min Hirst played in behind wide right in the area and lays it off for Chaplin who is closed down and the ball is blocked and cleared as he shoots
90+7 min ball in from the right bobbles around but Preston have more bodies there and are able to block and clear
