we now have the most expensive squad in the Championship.

I haven't checked for other seasons, but probably this is the strongest squad in 2nd tier history. Feels stronger than the squad we went up to the prem with, as we have a lot more depth to it now.
Expectations, rightly, will be high. Auto promotion, no excuses.

Poll: would you rather

You can check previous seasons at the top of that page - squad values from our promotion season:

Southampton FC - €332.48m
Ipswich Town - €69.10m

Southampton considerably more than us then (and our current squad)

Full list here, so puts into perspective what an achievement it was:

In recent history maybe but Cloughie’s Forest won promotion, the title and two European Cups in successive years.

It will be a mighty tough game today. Derby never make it easy for us. Especially a John Eustace team. Hopefully we find something. But looking forward to after the international break.

It's probably better balanced too in fairness with more athleticism

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

Also some rather expensive underachievers at present.

Need our big-money acquisitions to prove their worth.

Poll: Assume we have the money for one more big signing. Where do you spend it?

Yes a long way off record-breaking thankfully, on the small chance any blushes need to be spared later down the line! Transfermarkt's a very rough guide too as we well know, with Omari valued below €2m at the beginning of 23/24 IIRC, and at €7m by the end of the season, with us then paying £22m (and not being ripped off lol).

The one that springs to my mind straight away is Newcastle's brief fall from grace. That Championship squad was valued at €173m in 16/17, which ranked them 14th in the country. 14th in the country will probably be north of €400m this season once the window closes.

Looking at their individual valuations, McAteer £2m???, I'd take it with quite a large pinch of salt.
