I like the fact that Akpom said he was always set on coming to Ipswich if he was coming to the Championship but I wonder if any new signing (not just Ipswich) has ever turned round in a press interview and said "I would have preferred to have signed for XX, but the only offer was from here, so this will do for now".

It’s probably market state. We are currently looking upwards and the big fee and wage payer. In a different era we are trying to secure players at the edge where clubs might let them go but the player might prefer to stay.

Media training, whatever they say when joining a club is meaningless, they are all coached to say what gullible fans want to hear.

I much prefer to hear from players when they leave, like Chappers - you know it is heartfelt then rather than a load of guff.
