So anyway, it's World Sepsis Day. 15:20 - Sep 13 with 448 viewsBlueBadger

Annually in the UK there are around 48,000 deaths from sepsis. That's roughly one every twelve minutes and many of these are potentially preventable if detected and treated early.

Know your signs and symptoms people.

And remember if one clinician isn't listening to you about your concerns for either yourself or a loved one, under Martha's Rule you can contact someone who WILL(usually via your local hospital switchboard, but it varies).

Stay well people.

Most young whippersnappers will scoff at the show, but a few years ago sepsis was a major awareness raising storyline on ‘The Archers’ on R4 when a nick from rusty nail resulted in the ‘death’ of a young character.

Was thanks to that, that I contacted GP’s surgery earlier this month with a photo of a large & deep leg graze that had started healing, but then suddenly turned red & swollen around it 3 days later. They had me in seeing the nurse practitioner for a dressing & course of antibiotics within 2 hours! All healed up now 👍
