Whilst I recognize the police needed to do something I can't see how the malicious communications charge could possibly hold up or be prosecuted. Will be interesting to see if proceedings are brought for wrongful arrest....

It certainly doesn't look like the "indecent or grossly offensive" threshold in section 1 of the 1988 Act has been met assuming it amounts to a communication.

To be fair, if the socials are anything to go by today, showing a picture of a foreign sex offender has upset the 'we don't want foreigner sex offenders here' crowd.
