25 mph in a 20 on 15:29 - Sep 25 by farkenhell | The course is pretty informative tbh. You have to be a bit of a knob not to take it seriously. As others have pointed out, it's a cheaper alternative to the fine, points plus increased insurance premium. Also, I think careless driving carries 6 points? |
The awareness course I attended definitely had an impact on me. I got caught doing 73mph in a van on the A14. The first thing I learned was that the limit for vans is 60 on a dual carriageway. Must have forgotten that from doing my theory test in the 1990s. Secondly, I now use cruise control to make sure I don't creep over speed limits in my car. It barely impacts my travel time, and I always smile smugly when I pass a speed camera, because I know I won't get stung. Finally, the survival statistics for pedestrians hit at 30 mph compared to 40 mph are stark. It's not worth 10 mph to have a death on your conscience . | |
