Well kinda, but he had agreed to leave, glad he didn't and i guess it's a sign of commitment, but it's not all that clear.

It was Phil's summary of KM's words. I took the words at face value, didn't have to "infer" anything. People can just say things differently on different days in different contexts - doesn't mean there has to be a subjext.
