Watching Sunderland - A penny for the thoughts of KM/ MA 20:50 - Dec 3 with 1689 viewsBellevue_Blue

Well drilled, exciting, full of real athletes able to cover loads of ground with real aerial quality in both boxes.

I understand we were in a different position but I'd be fascinated to understand what our leaders think of their success on the recruitment side but also the tactical side.

It's virtually impossible to survive in the Premier League if you spend most of your summer transfer budget on British based players.

If you want to compete in the world's best domestic league then you need to recruit from the rest of the world.

We clearly lacked the in-house expertise to do that so essentially opted for a Championship all star XI which failed miserably as a strategy.

After the Evans era of prolonged stagnation we achieved too much too quickly, but the current infrastructure overhaul should mean things are different next time.

Worries for another day, of much more concern is how to extract a winning tune from a flailing squad of Championship under achievers.
