My guess is that they were aware that they had nobody in the Town half otherwise, and we'd have been free to kick off at will.
A bit like the fallacy that appeared a few years back, that resulted in teams ensuring that one player stayed on the pitch at all times during celebrations. |  |

Why do all celebrations end up in the corner of the ground...Id suggest its to make sure the restart is delayed as long as possible ?... I think my natural reaction would have been to just stand there and be engulfed by my teammates, but then I'd still be in my own half and would have yo get ready instantly as Town were ready to kick off pretty quickly being so high up the field. Just exploring the possibility that not much happens in a game that hasn't already been micro analysised. | | | |
