A buy back clause is a different kettle of fish to what you're suggesting. We were negotiating Morsy's release from his contract with us, not signing him up. I don't think there'd be any mechanism for us to restrict who he can play for once we've released him and he's no longer registered with us. Even the scenario you suggested before I assume is part of the contract you signed when you commenced your employment, not something your employer gets you to sign when you hand in your notice.

The point is that he will have signed a contract when he left - some sort of settlement agreement - and that could have anything in it. There will not have been a ceremonial torching of the contract. And that settlement agreement could have all sorts of restrictions in it. You are allowed to have a contract with more than one party.

Of course they will have agreed a settlement but there's no way that would include us dictating who he can and can't play for if and when he leaves the club he's joining. Have never heard of anything like that being agreed as part of a player leaving a club and not sure how legal or enforceable it would be.

We have no evidence for that, looked ok in the premier league, more than capable to being a very decent Championship midfielder, backed up by the fact Kmac wanted him for this season less than 6 months ago.

Eh?...he looked way out of his depth in the Premier league, just as many did. Just because KM wanted him to stay for another season doesn't mean he would want him now. He hasn't played a competitive game for months . There is zero chance he is wanted at Ipswich now. A younger Morsy then maybe but not at 34 without a preseason.
