Just find that odd as clearly a talented albeit inconsistent footballer at L2 above level. Either way, pleased he’s out there living the dream as clearly a decent honest fella.

Part of the reason is that he won't relocate from Ipswich which sort of reduces his options somewhat.

His reluctance to move away from Ipswich is probably a factor. He had higher offers, but doesn't want to move for family reasons. As a footballer in this part of the world you're going to limit your options somewhat. Personally I'd take the moves and try to make it work, its a short career, but everyone is different I guess and everyone's circumstances are different.

Surely he could leave home 45 minutes earlier if that's why he's only getting on at half time?

At age 30, a journeyman striker isn't going to get many gig pay offers so maybe he's better off playing for Maldon & doing another job to make a living for the rest of his life? Hard to believe his early spell at town when he'd scored 10 times by October & looked more than decent, but then one goal in his last 30 games.

Finances are definitely a big factor. Silly money in the Prem and Championship for the most part, but that does drop quite sharply down the leagues. If option A is stay living at home where your kids might be in schools, wife works, family are etc and your commitment is to drive 40 minutes to training on a Tuesday & Thursday night and get paid £1,000 a game vs. moving away to somewhere like Barrow to play in L2, having to rent a flat, being miles from home, training daily to earn £500 a week more, its not that appealing or financially better off.

Shame he doesn’t want to move away as with just a few late-career transfers he could be the first footballer to be offside in every continent.
