Why have we always got to listen to 10 or 15 minutes of 'banter' between the hosts before they get into the actual subject matter?

Imagine being in a pub, and a table of 4 blokes you've never met suddenly call you over saying, "here listen into this pal, you'll like this", and then proceed to take the p*55 out of each other on subjects you have no knowledge of, and they don't let you get involved.

Just cut to the fking chase.
