I read that Middlesbrough have won all 13 matches in which they’ve scored the first goal, so I briefly dived into those stats a bit more. They’re the only team with a 100% record in that situation, averaging 3.0 PPG. We’ve actually scored first three more times than them which is the most (along with Hull and Wrexham), and have picked up the most points overall when doing so. Our record when scoring first is 14-2-0. When we concede first, though, it’s a different story. We’ve done that nine times and picked up just four points, with a record of 0-4-5 (0.44 PPG). Coventry lead the league in this category, averaging 1.63 PPG with a 4-1-3 record. Boro, by comparison, are on 0.67 PPG with a 1-5-6 record. So gaining points after conceding first is something we need to improve on. That said… here’s hoping Stoke score first. |  |
