Sammy S interview 20:51 - Feb 4 with 693 viewsFrimleyBlue

Talking about free role, being best for him etc etc

You'd have thought that discussion would have taken place last summer and he'd realise he wasn't going to get that here..

Obviously big pay rise etc for coming, that was a given

but it makes it even more daft that we even bothered with it.

I doubt SS would have expected to get a free role here when he signed, with it being in the EPL at the time. I rather suspect he would have been sold the idea of developing his gsme, playing different roles for the team and learning more on the defensive side etc.

I am sure that the chance of playing EPL football alone ( plus the pay rise ) would have been more than enough to convince him to join. He did ok in the prem but overall it hasn.t quite worked out for him here for a number of reasons. It happens and we move on, as does he.

I don't really think a 29 year old would have been fussed about developing his game..
defo a move of a prem dream though of course, which you can't begrudge

but what i don't get it surely during those dicusssions it would have been mentioned that the reason for his previous season was because of the way he played.. just seems to bloody silly to get someone who can't do what made them have that successful year.

Bit different if he was early 20S and you're developing him for future seasons of course.

He’s an instinctive footballer. I quite like him but he might be a bit too off the cuff for Mckenna.
