| Hmmm magic of the cup 21:45 - Feb 13 with 515 views | Blue_Uprising | BBC talk about magic of the cup but blimey they are reporting on a game where we changed our whole team and were completely lacklustre. Being happy you can go out of the cup so that you might be able to play Portsmouth away a bit earlier might be a clue that the competition is largely not very magic. It’s a depressing state of modern football. But I’m not pissed off in the slightest just very bemused. | | | | |

Not really trying to win a cup game, which is effectively what we did sits badly with me. You can tell what McKenna thought from the fact that he left Cajuste and Hirst on for the full 90 mins. How many times has that happened.

| Hmmm magic of the cup on 22:22 - Feb 13 with 346 views | Mark | I am wondering if we are getting to the point where the cups should be scrapped, as clubs just want to go out to focus on the league. Why should fans buy tickets to watch that? What is the point? I am sad about how money is ruining the game, as I used to love the FA Cup. Back then we wanted to progress as far as we could, and I recall the money a cup run earned was useful to invest in the team. How times have changed. [Post edited 13 Feb 22:23]

Sadly clubs play for money first then glory. The number of teams playing weakened teams across FA and League cup is stupid. If money was more equal we’d be back to playing for glory first but that ship has sailed. And it’s doubly bad when even if you have a run in the FA cup one of the big boys just sweeps it up anyway almost every year with their ridiculous squads. Proper head in the sand stuff from all football authorities for the last 30 years and probably the next 30.

Exactly. All those years, football supporters loved the prospect of a cup run. Regardless of league position. Club and players should rightly play every game to win. A wasted journey and an awful time sitting in the cold .

My 20 year old son doesn't think it is magic because he has never seen Ipswich take it seriously and always sees borring top 6 teams winning it. I was there when Ipswich won at Wembley and I still sort of see the magic. But my generation is dwindling. Good to see Mick liftling the trophey on BBC intro. I remember it as if it was yesterday. But did he by pass ever looking young

I’m only half joking when I say that maybe we should bin the cups but reintroduce aversion of the inter-toto but with 5 or six leagues in Europe. Second tier plays second tier in those countries. Would make for some fun ‘European’ games under the lights and away trips. 😂😂😂 Better than Wrexham away.
