Agree. I wonder what impact it would have on our season if instead of sighing and moaning every time George Hirst does something, we even just ignored it... or better yet everyone made a concerted joint effort at the next home game to get behind him in a big way and sing his song a bunch of times. |  | | |

It doesn't do any good. Football is about so much more than ability, players are at their best when the shirt feels as light as possible and confidence is brimming. The so called 'supporters' who go way OTT with their criticism are a disgrace and can feck off and support someone else. We've had it with Burns in the past to the point his family were upset, we've now got people creating lowlight videos of Hirst and putting them online. Its one thing giving an opinion on a forum but some just don't seem capable of leaving it at that.

The mood after our defeat at Anfield last season sticks in my mind, and is one I think we should harness. We'd gone down 4-1, Burns was injured, and Enciso had got stuck in / crossed for Greaves.
The crowd felt united, seeing the good in Town and willing them on to stay up. Ultimately, we didn't against the Premier League opposition but the opportunity is different now.
Have a moan at the end of the season if you must, but do so having done your bit to support. This means more than just turning up to games.

It's fairly obvious a player is likely to respond to support and encouragement more than he is to being subject to any kind of abuse. GH of course isn't the first this season at the club. Everyone is entitled to a critique, but it should never get downright personal and abusive. Doing so at an actual game, whether a player starts, or comes on as a sub, or is even just warming up, is not only stupid, it's very likely to be counterproductive. | | | |
