Is Liam Delap becoming a journeyman 10:06 - Feb 21 with 2582 viewsBroadbent23

Starting with his loan at Hull, then his brilliant season with us, he is now rumoured to be surplus at Chelsea. He genuinely has talent but top teams in the Premiership spit out players each season. With the right squad Liam Delap is a 20+ scorer. His father has seven clubs. These days a lot of players change clubs regularly over a career.
The question is should we bid for him or is there a buy back clause.

Do you know what a journeyman is?

He is 23 and has played been contracted to 3 clubs. He is regularly playing for Chelsea and is on the bench again today.

Once he has been contracted to 4 or 5 more clubs you could ask the question. At the same age as Delap is now, Marcus Bent had been contracted to 6 different clubs. He did go on to become a journeyman.

Would be fantastic but there is next to no chance that a realistic scenario.

Also, genuinely interested why are you on the fence? Delap is a country mile above anyone we've got or been linked with since he left.

Because while I was a fan of him, generally returning to players or the past doesn't work the same way, and along with it carries new baggage (likely fans who just moan and call him a traitor every time he's not perfect) so sometimes I wonder if creating new routes rather than revisiting is better.

Ridiculous take.

Delap is far too good for us to be able to get back here any time soon (unless he suffers a career-threatening injury etc). If he were to come back he would be a big improvement on what we have and I doubt he would take any notice of the few absolute idiots who would consider him a traitor for moving to Man City from us when we were relegated.
