I agree, the thought of him and Kipre together fills me with dread. I think O'Shea has issues himself, but he's not going to be dropped any time soon. We don't have an adequate replacement for him. |
OK keep him in the team but make Leif captain...!

| Kipre / Greaves partnership?? on 08:55 - Feb 22 by DJR | That strikes me as mainly down to the fact that clubs have often set up to thwart us this season, so often haven't spent much of the game attacking us. One thing I do think has been the case is that we have conceded a lot of soft goals in the last couple of seasons through the centre. That didn't really happen when we had Burgess and Woolfenden because I think they had better positional sense, and Woolfenden acted as a sweeper, perhaps in part because he was aware of his lack of pace. It was interesting to note for the first goal, for example, that as well as not closing down Moore, O'Shea lost him when the headed flick on to Moore took place nearer the half-way line. It is also noticeable more generally that closing down people when there is a chance of a shot seems to me to be a particular weakness for many of our players, just as I find it frustrating (as happened yesterday) when there is a break on, for our players to be ambling forward when they should be getting forward at speed to support the break. Putting it another way (and leaving aside Matisuwa) we do seem to lack a certain intensity which comes to the fore in games like yesterday and Sheffield United and which suggests to me that we have not necessarily bought the sort of physical players that Ashton suggested in the summer we should have bought the previous summer. "O'Shea lost him when the headed flick on to Moore took place nearer the half-way line" - that flick-on was lost by Taylor, who had a shocking start to the game. His first two passes were to Wrexham, and then he was bullied with flick-on for their first. Made up for it with two assists. But we don't win games from behind, so the original sin is fatal for us. O'Shea bet Moore couldn't score from that angle. But there was nobody for him to pass to in the middle! No pass to block. The only option Moore had was shoot, yet O'Shea gave it to him. Crazy: Also, he clearly hadn't watched vids of Moore scoring those for us in 2024. Do we do any video analysis in prep? | | | |

If Arsenal can drop Martin Ødegærd then I'm sure we can drop OShea. Greaves has only ever played along O'Shea since he has arrived. I'd personally welcome a new partnership. They could complement each other nicely. If we don't try we'll never know. Give them 2-3 games. If it works great, if not O'Shea has then had the warning and we expect to see him prove his worth
