It's getting a bit niggly on the board today and we haven't had a Friday music thread since the last one.

On 6 music they did a Macca 6 of the best to celebrate the release of the new Macca doc "Man on the run" (I notice Glassers has a new Macca avatar) and I thought it would be a good choice here.

The only caveat is it has to be from the decade after the break up of the Beatles.

I'll start with this.

Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

Assuming this thread is confined to Macca, I've always liked this, which I think was one of his earlier post-Beatles songs.

I'm no expert but I always thought this song was a bit more "Beatley" than much of his later output.

And you are not wrong about the board getting a bit more niggly, which is why I am out of those threads.

An overlooked gem that was only ever played live and never properly recorded in the studio.

Maybe that's why it's so Beatley.

As we are limited to a ten year period after the breakup of the Beatles, how about Macca inventing the Gorillaz in 1980, twenty years before Damon Albarn did?

I don't really know Macca's catalogue post-Beatles apart from the well known singles so about 10 years ago I bought the "Pure McCartney" box set.
These 2 tracks I'd never heard before got my attention in different ways.
Both from 'McCartney II' which I think just scrapes in as a decade after the Beatles split

I've always thought that these two songs from two different albums were like companion pieces. Let Me Roll it is such an obvious tribute to John Lennon.

Personal favourite from Wings. My dad had all the LP's on vinyl and we recently found them.
