| Has promotion or relegation ever come down to GD in the Champ/PL on 06:49 - Mar 3 with 753 views | EastTownBlue | Reading were relegated from the PL on goal difference in 2008, GD was -25 against Fulham's -22. The year before Sheffield Utd finished on 38 points but -23 compared to Wigan's -22. There were a few other occassions including the first year in 93 when Palace relegated by -13 to -11. Last time in the Championship was 2016 when Boro and Brighton finished on 89 points but the GD was +32 versus +30 in Boro's favour. [Post edited 3 Mar 6:49]

That’s nothing. Remember Liverpool-Arsenal’s title decider in 1989. Arsenal needed to win by 2 goals, so that they would equal Liverpool’s goal difference and then be awarded the title on goals scored. That was the simplest route they had to being crowned champions, that night.

I lived in Islington at the time. Quite near the ground. I went down there that evening and it was wild. A bunch of friends were Gooners so I was ok with the result.

It's up for grabs now. What about us with Sheffield United/Everton, was that points or GD?
