It's an utter utter disgrace.

Imposed on match going supporters by corrupt men in suits and designed for a gormless brainless casual TV watching idiot.

When they changed the F1 rules on that last lap a few years ago was a watershed moment. Bye bye sporting integrity, hello sports entertainment.

I do not want to watch a man in stockley park with big headphones peer at offsides.

Just let the ref ref the game. Linesman flag for offside. I don't care if they make mistakes. It's part of the game.

Here is the “evidence”.

FFS, who do we blame for this forensic decision making ?

It’s got to the stage where celebration of a goal - both in the stands and on the pitch - is cautious right up until the point when the game restarts. It seems to me that when a goal is scored, VAR are desperate to find something that justifies ruling it out. It’s ruining the flow and spontaneity of matches.

I generally dislike conspiracy theories but the inconsistency and general approach gives rise to claims that some teams are discriminated against.

I was at the Villa game with my son the other night and in my opinion the game turned on the inconsistency of two VAR decisions. It completely knocked the stuffing out of Villa and they were comprehensively out played for the remainder of the game. Prior to that it had been a good contest.

The joy of scoring a goal is why we go to football, and if we can't celebrate the ball going into the net then it is no longer the sport I have enjoyed my whole life. If a player is offside it needs to be communicated to fans and players immediately through a raised flag. It is so wrong to let the player score, fans celebrate, then rule it out a few minutes later.

The only way to create some redeeming feature of VAR would be to use actual chalk for the chalking off. That would at least bring it some old school character...

Its absolute nonsense, its ruining the game. VAR 'creep' seems like it's basically combing over goals to find some sort of infringement to rule them out now.

Those defending it who say 'its getting more decisions right' seem to completely disregard the opportunity cost that comes with it and the points you mention. I used an analogy before and probably a crap one, but 10mph speed limits on the M1 would reduce accidents, it doesn't mean its the right thing to do. VAR compromises the absolute essence of live football and I absolutely hate it with a passion.
