To the Reform sympathisers. Is it acceptable that Ashton lied to the staff? 20:28 - Mar 26 with 563 viewsAlpineBlue

This is a quote from the Athletic article:

"Although the anger among employees continued to mount throughout Tuesday morning, Ashton initially refused to conduct a staff briefing to explain the situation. However, at 3:30pm, the CEO agreed to hold one.

But if the staff gathered in the open-plan office were hoping for an apology, they were disappointed. Instead, Ashton doubled down on Farage’s visit and stressed the club is apolitical. He did not reference the fact that he had dined with Farage on Monday, nor did he mention that the Reform leader was there at his request."

I just find the level of disrespect shown to the people who have bought into his project unforgivable.

I'll accept the word of The Athletic over the whataboutery of our resident Moscow correspondent.

Their lawyers will have signed off on the article as being watertight and 100% defensible.

If it wasn't true, I would have expected an incredibly terse statement from the club demanding a retraction from TA and threatening legal action.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.
