Pizza Cup Knockout
at 08:22 8 Nov 2022

I know it’s hardly a priority. But, does anybody know when the knockouts are? The only info. I can find is a Sky article which has the knockout rounds starting 30/11. There doesn’t seem to have been a draw though. Even the EFL don’t seem to give a hoot about this tournament as they have next to nothing about it on their site.

Nations League
at 08:17 15 Jun 2022

There seems to be many comments on here saying England were playing end of season friendlies. They were actually competitive matches. The tournament was brought in to replace meaningless friendlies. We just don’t seem to take it seriously.

Do we need to play these matches? Are qualification games against lower ranked teams enough? Do we need to test ourselves against equally ranked teams in years outside of major tournaments?

Lots of criticism on here but what is the alternative to this tournament? Back to friendlies or just not play any matches outside of WC and Euros (inc. qualification)?

Embarrassing Moment
at 11:21 29 Jan 2022

I just walked the dog and saw a neighbour I vaguely know called Tom. "Hi Butterbing" he said. To which I loudly and clearly replied "Hi Butterbing, how are you?" I can't stop cringing and repeating his confused face in my head. I just walked past and quickly disappeared down an alleyway rather than going straight to my house which might have made it worse.(Names changed for internet anonymity, both he and I used my actual name which sounds nothing like Tom).

Anyway, it's not that embarrassing but I get the feeling it's one of those moments that will keep me awake in the night for years to come.

It's Saturday and the game is not for ages. Somebody give me a worse story to cheer me up. Please.

Stand Names
at 16:05 20 Jul 2021

I have a terrible memory for this sort of thing and can't find it on a google search. Can somebody help me out? What have the stands at Portman Road been called historically? These are the ones I can remember:

Cobbold Stand. Has it always been this?

Alf Ramsey. Previously Chuchmans, then South, then Greene King.

Bobby Robson. Previously North.

West. Previously Pioneer and East of England Co-Op.

Ukraine - potentially a dangerous opponent.
at 10:59 30 Jun 2021

Absolutely loved yesterday but before we all start getting ahead of ourselves. Just a reminder that Ukraine finished top and unbeaten in their qualifying group ahead of Portugal. They drew with Portugal away and beat them at home.

Admittedly they have had a slight downturn in form since then, particularly in the nations league with losses to Germany and Switzerland yet a win against Spain. They have not got off to a great start in the world cup qualifiers with draws against France, Kazakhstan and Finland.

They are a dangerous opponent on their day and it would be so very England to lose against them having beaten Germany.

Why is is so bad? I was just thinking about who is left in the squad and assumed there would be a correct list on there. They have sort of updated the squad by removing some players. However, Judge and Edwards are still listed as players. How hard is it for the club to know who they are keeping/releasing!

Contract End Dates
at 14:22 13 May 2021

When do player contracts actually end? I believe it is 30-06-2021 but I may be wrong. In which case the players with expiring contracts will be paid up until then whatever happens. Does that effectively give the club all of June to offload any of the players whose options were taken up before it actually costs them anything? And then, if no fees are forthcoming before the end of June they could then be given free transfer/loan (assuming somebody wants them).

Seems a risk still but I guess they are confident they can make more than they would have missed out on by letting them go for nothing.

Squad Culture

Perhaps there are some mind games at play here?

Cook may feel that the squad feels too comfortable and he wants them to be pushing harder. Perhaps he wants them to go away for the summer and think about whether they actually want to be here. It certainly gives them a feeling that they need to change their ways if they do want to stay here.

Is he still employed by the club? What does he actually do? His job title is 'Director of Football' but he never seems to be mentioned in any interview by the managers.

Brexit Party
at 01:23 28 Sep 2019

Is it me or are all the established parties dead for those who support Brexit? Lib Dems are Remain, F@ck knows what Labour are, Tories can’t decide either and have done more to destroy Brexit than the other parties. The only true party for those who want Brexit to happen is the Brexit party. When the inevitable election happens it is going to be inconclusive unless the 17.4 million back the Brexit party.

If I were a Brexiteer then the Tories and (fuc)King Boris would have lost my vote due to inaction and incapability. Boris is not the man to deliver. Only Nige and the Brexit party can deliver Brexit in the way we all voted for now. The tories have ignored the will of the people more than any other party. If democracy is to be respected surely we must all vote for the Brexit party.

The Brexit party have even announced some other policies designed to attract voters. For example inheritance tax Will be scrapped. That will stick it to the elite.

Farage and the Brexit Party

Looks like Nigel is back with a new party. Already the woman he set the party up with has had to stand down for Islamaphobic twitter posts and for retweeting Tommy Robinson.

They are preparing for the possibility of the European elections in May.

Adverts

There is a “Congratulations BT user” pop up advert running on this site. This is the third time I’ve tried to post this. It comes up as a pop up then takes you off the site, very frustrating. Anybody else getting that?

Edit. I’m on an iphone.

F1 -Australian Grand Prix
at 09:30 15 Mar 2019

I know there are a few knowledgable F1 fans on here. There are suggestions that Ferrari are hiding their true pace in practice for the Australian Grand Prix. I can’t understand why they would do that? If true they must be supremely confident in the car. Can they actually have seen enough of the car in testing to justify holding back?

Interesting Championship Final Day
at 11:19 4 May 2018

Just looking a t tomorrows fixtures and it looks like it will be an interesting final day at the top and bottom (not for us though).

Most of the teams still with something to play for at the top are playing teams in danger of relegation. There are some really crucial games with real potential for drama.

The final promotion spot is between Cardiff and Fulham. They are playing Reading and Birmingham respectively - both still in danger of relegation.

The final playoff spot is between Derby, Preston and Millwall. Derby and Preston are playing Barnsley and Burton respectively - both in danger of relegation. Millwall are playing Villa(already in the play-offs)

So, four of the teams in danger of relegation are playing teams with something to play for. Bolton are playing Forest (Safe).

Petition Launched by Blackpool
at 15:19 23 Feb 2018

With the current debates about ownership of our beloved club it is worth thinking of those in worse positions such as Blackpool. Their supporters have launched a petition calling for better governance of football clubs. Our current stagnation is undoubtedly frustrating yet it could be so much worse (and some believe it may well get worse under ME). See the link below for the petition should you agree with the Blackpool Supporter's Trust that the way our football clubs are run needs to change
