is it OK to start looking beyond MA? I personally have no worries about life after him; in fact I think it could work in our favour.

Apart from the last week he's done a pretty good job here, but I can't help but feel that a change at the helm could bring fresh ideas, fresh impetus, fresh contacts, etc, that will make the transition to the next level slightly easier.

We are light years from where we were 5 years ago and I am confident that the owners will find a replacement with a higher ceiling than MA.

A new chairman wouldn't be a bad thing & really should have happened over a year ago.

I am by no means convinced he is going. Increasingly I suspect they will just silence it out.

The other side of your point is that if he isn't replaceable then the ownership group are not as smart as I thought they were.

But, yes, I suspect someone of Ashton's personality and character traits has a a shelf life in any workplace. He's done a good job, with a few questions but has blown that all up.

Im of the opposite feeling. The longer the silence the more I think they'll make an announcement of a replacement. All the news in one statement. Job done.

I think he'll ride it out personally, but you make a valid point. We weren't as attractive a proposition when Ashton joined, and to his credit he's played a big part in elevating the club. Maybe there is an element of 'what's got us here won't get us there' though, including in his hot seat. He's never been CEO at a Premier League club before last season (to my knowledge), maybe someone who knows a bit more about what the top tier looks like could have its benefits.

Either way I think he stays. The bloke thinks he's untouchable, I think he might be right in some respects.

This is not a comment on whether I think MA should go or stay. Just something my late Mother often used to say. " There's as big a fish in the sea as ever came out ". I hope it's self explanatory!
